Deepavali @ Istana

Monday was a public holiday in celebration of Deepavali, hence papa suggested going to the Istana for picnic n play. Though it was a hothothot day, we had alot of fun messing around in the grass fields, listening to concerts, meddling with children play equipments and eating homemade tuna sandwiches!
Thanks papa for your great suggestion!
A secondary school band held a concert at the Istana. Lele and I enjoyed a few music pieces under the scorching hot tentage. I was surprised he did not mind the heat and sweat at all. All throughout the 1st 2 pieces, Lele stared mesmerised at the band. After the first piece, Lele shouted,
"Yao!" to mean he wanted some more music.
After the second piece, the band conductor gave a brief introduction of the band etc. Lele must have been worried that no more music will follow, for he exclaimed several times,
"Yao! Yao! Yao!!!" and we received a few stares...
Kids can be reallie fickle-minded (aren't we all?)... for he became restless just halfway through the 3rd piece and wanted to get away...
Incidentally, the band conductor used to be my secondary school band conductor! I was in the band and played the clarinet... WHAT A COINCIDENCE... he hasn't changed much at all lor. Band days were busybusybusy but totally enjoyable... ... ... ... ... ...
I had wanted to say hi to him and maybe chat a little when the concert ended. But before I knew it, the concert ended and the band was gone. Hmm Hmm... Hope fate might allow us to meet again.
As mentioned above, I packed some homemade tuna sandwiches for lunch at the picnic, which were enjoyed by papa n me. Lele had none, because he hates bread! Being a super non-fussy eater as he is (bitter, sour or a little spicy? Bring it on!), he will always shake his head when we try offering him some. When he was little, he did not mind bread. But now it's a no-no 99% (1% is when he 'accidentally' tasted the jam filling of the bread and likes the sweet taste) of the time. Hence we had to bring home cooked rice lunch for him. One grandma came over and asked to see the ingredients of Lele's lunch. Turned out she was very impressed that Lele has such a hefty appetite (esp when I told her Lele is 18mths and eats 1 to 1 and 1/2 bowl rice each meal), cos her granddaughter is 2 1/2 years old but cannot finish 1 bowl of rice, is fussy eater and usually chooses to drink milk instead of an actual meal. Below are the few pics taken there...
